What CIP is

What it is. What it offers. Why it exists.

Capital Infrastructure Partners (CIP) is a diversified investment platform for infrastructure. It is founded and led by Gregory J. Trilford, Marco Elli, and Paul Calatayud. Head office: Abu Dhabi. Intended regulatory home: Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM).

  1. 01

    What it is

A privately held platform that commits capital to infrastructure — not a public fund brochure, and not a product sold from this page.

  2. 02

    What it offers

Capital and partnership across four engines: energy, compute and AI, land and digital infrastructure, and supply. Each sleeve is underwritten on its own returns.

  3. 03

    Why it exists

Isolated assets leave value on the table. CIP exists so land, power, compute, and offtake can strengthen one another over long horizons.

The platform

The next era will be built as an ecosystem.

CIP is a diversified investment platform focused on the infrastructure that enables the next generation of economic growth. Rather than holding isolated assets, we seek a connected portfolio in which land, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, supply chains, digital infrastructure, and capital work together.

  • Diversification

Protects the platform across geographies, technologies, counterparties, and stages of development.

  • Integration

Strengthens the whole. Shared power, customers, supply chains, and expertise compound value.

  • Scale

Creates opportunity. Capital, land, and offtake become the next investment, not the last.

Why now

Structural forces are converging.

AI scale, electrification, energy security, reshoring, and sovereign capacity are not separate themes. CIP invests across the value chain — not one piece of it.

  1. 01

    AI scale

Compute growth is driving unprecedented demand for power, land, and data centers.

  2. 02

    Electrification

Global power systems require massive investment in generation, storage, and grids.

  3. 03

    Energy security

Reliable energy has become a strategic and national priority.

  4. 04

    Reshoring

Manufacturing and supply chains are being rebuilt around resilience.

  5. 05

    Sovereign capacity

Governments are competing for technology, compute, and industrial capability.

Investment platforms

One master brand. Multiple engines of growth.

Each sleeve is underwritten on its own returns — and designed to create demand, offtake, or optionality for the rest of the platform.

CIP Energy

Energy is the foundation.

Renewables, geothermal, hydro, solar, storage, gas and transition, and transmission. Energy is not necessarily the endpoint. It can be the starting point for an entire economic ecosystem.

CIP AI

Compute and sovereign intelligence.

AI data centers are high-value load. They turn reliable power into durable offtake — and can anchor new energy, manufacturing, and industrial ecosystems around the same site.

CIP Infrastructure

Land, sites, and digital infrastructure.

Strategic land becomes embedded optionality when power, fiber, transport, and policy align. Sites can become multi-decade platforms for generation, sovereign compute, and logistics.

CIP Supply

Own the bottlenecks that enable scale.

Power equipment, generation kit, high-density cooling, compute, engineering, and critical logistics — selective ownership inside the supply chain, not only as a customer of it.

The model

From portfolio to platform.

Each investment is evaluated independently — and designed to create value across the broader CIP platform.

  1. Land
  2. Energy
  3. Infrastructure
  4. Manufacturing
  5. AI + data centers
  6. Offtake

Supported by flexible capital, supply-chain certainty, technology advantage, and specialized operating partners.

Compounding

The CIP flywheel.

Capital creates assets. Assets create demand. Demand creates scale. Scale creates the next opportunity. Hover a stage — or let the cycle turn.

01

Capital

Flexible capital enters the platform and underwrites the next cycle of land, energy, and infrastructure.

Strategic opportunities

A deliberate mandate for disruption.

A share of the platform is reserved for earlier-stage, entrepreneurial, or technologically disruptive investments. The purpose is not speculation for its own sake. It is to participate in technologies that could strengthen, or redefine, the core platform.

  • AI + automation
  • Next-generation energy
  • Advanced materials
  • Robotics
  • Grid technology
  • Compute efficiency
  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Novel infrastructure models

Investment logic

A disciplined filter for every opportunity.

  1. 01

    Standalone returns

Does it generate attractive standalone risk-adjusted returns?

  2. 02

    Platform synergy

Does it strengthen another part of the CIP ecosystem?

  3. 03

    Future optionality

Does it create strategic optionality for the future?

The strongest opportunities may accomplish all three.

Leadership

Three Co-GPs. Platform, executive, and investment committees.

  1. 01

    Gregory J. Trilford

Co-GP, Founding Partner & Chairman, Capital Infrastructure Partners

Gregory is Co-General Partner, Founding Partner and Chairman of Capital Infrastructure Partners, providing overarching strategic leadership, institutional positioning and top-level governance direction across the platform.

With more than four decades of international executive and board-level experience, Gregory has built a career at the intersection of global industry, sovereign relationships, infrastructure, aviation, logistics, supply chains, food security and capital. His experience includes senior leadership and advisory roles connected to major global corporations, sovereign institutions and strategic investment platforms across the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa, the Americas and other international markets.

At Capital Infrastructure Partners, Gregory's role is principally strategic: shaping the long-term direction of the platform, developing relationships with sovereign and institutional capital, supporting anchor-partner engagement, and ensuring that the platform is positioned with the credibility, governance discipline and institutional perspective required to operate at scale.

He brings particular depth in working across complex cross-border environments, connecting capital with strategic opportunities and aligning commercial interests with long-horizon national and economic priorities. His relationships across sovereign, institutional and corporate networks provide Capital Infrastructure Partners with access to decision-makers, strategic partners and opportunities across its global markets.

Gregory's investment philosophy is grounded in ownership, patience and integration. He believes enduring value is created when capital, infrastructure, energy, technology, industry and supply chains are considered as interconnected systems rather than isolated investments.

As Chairman, he provides the strategic lens that connects CIP's investment engines and helps ensure that individual opportunities contribute not only to attractive standalone returns, but also to the broader platform's resilience, scale and future optionality.

Building systems. Connecting markets. Creating enduring value.
